It is important to to use cheap but more important is to be free.

The reason to use libre software is to have control of our computers and our
data. It is not a question of price but rather of freedom. That's what the
FSF's promote. Freedom can lead to quality. Quality seldom leads to freedom.

The idea is to support people who put an effort to make libre software as a
way to give back some of the contribution they make. It is good to
contribute as well as use other people's contributions.
