Right, that's probably the main reason of the campaign . It is a
campaign that wants to promote the value of freedom (from the
philosophical point of view).

Quoted from the campaign site: "Other proprietary alternatives to
Adobe's PDF reader also exist, but like it, their internal working is
a a trade secret and these programs do not respect your right to
control your own privacy and data."

However, even from the practical side, when you just want to browse a
PDF file (what most of users do), alternatives like Sumatra (Win) of
Kpdf (Lin) could be more efficient and less resource hungry than
Adobe's.
